Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, and professionally referred to under the surname Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to be signed by J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The debut EP Pho, released was released on the 21st of October, 2016 was released on Dreamville Records. Her career began to grow in notoriety. Her first studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox released her debut songs online in the year 2012. She released five singles in 2013 and Five Finger Discount in 2013 and Ariography EP in 2013. She continued to upload her tracks online through 2014 and released her own single Bound. Her music was also featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as on Sweat It Out on the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole, who was a member of the Dreamville team at the time would like to see her perform on Rihanna in reference to Rihanna. The 8th of December was the day she confirmed that she had been hired by Dreamville Records. Backseat is a track that she recorded along with Cozz to record the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. In October 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and was an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018 she went on to appear on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang with Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream off her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. The 9th of November saw her release two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On November 13 two new singles titled The No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019 for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared with Cole as part of the Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. The track was accompanied by the release of a music video on February 20 2019 and was viewed by 3 million people on YouTube within the first week. She was the supporting act for 6LACK as part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
